In 2011 Robert Hardie to the Dunedin office as Statutory Equipment and Welding Inspector and Driekus Barnard joined the Timaru staff as NDT Technician.

Dean is now a certified senior welding inspector and senior NDT IANZ signatory holder in UT,PT,MT Level 2.

We are pleased to welcome Jenny Hallett as our Timaru office receptionist/administrator and farewell Toni Hewson who leaves us to embark on her OE around Asia.

Building & Equipment Update

An NDT and RT processing facility is now operational in fiji which continues to be a large part of the Company operation. Having equipment and facilities in Fiji gives a much smoother and faster turn around which keeps costs minimised.

Design Engineering now has a 14m Aichi Elevating Work Platform for those difficult high places we sometimes need to get to.

Dunedin has got a small test lab facility built recently and is taking in a growing amount of work including some very large castings which get UT and MT testing.

Christchurch has a fully operational mobile NDT trailer for site work and has recently got a new custom designed MT & PT facility and RT processing room.

Due to the Christchurch branch size DE has relocated this branch to the IZONE at Rolleston, same phone and fax numbers. 

Ramblings

Design Engineering remains busy despite some global and national problems and has some major work on its books due to the earthquake and new Wind Towers.  Staff have recently been to Fiji, Australia, Singapore, PNG, Vietnam and Samoa to carry out work on quite a few projects including: Wind Towers, tanks, pipelines, large multi storey buildings, sugar mills, wharf ship loaders and wealthy residential holiday properties.

Remember Design Engineering is one of the larger steel detailers in the country and can churn out up to 25 tonne per week of drawings and material summaries - "service quality assured".
