We are pleased to welcome Robert Smit to the team at Design Engineering.  Robert is a crane, lifting equipment and lift inspector who comes to us from Bureau Veritas (UK) where he worked as Regional Senior Engineer (Lifts) and Engineer Surveyor (Lifts), bringing to us 9 years hands-on experience and knowledge in the engineering industry.  Robert has a proven background in inspection, testing and certification of all types of lifting equipment and machinery including impaired mobility lifts.

Design Engineering have recently made a significant investment by purchasing Acoustic Emission testing (AE) equipment for inspecting elevating work platforms and bucket liners. EWPs require this to be carried out 2-yearly in accordance with the ACOP and AS4748: - Acoustic Emission testing of fibreglass insulated booms on elevating work platforms. This can be done in conjunction with 6-monthly inspections resulting in immediate cost savings to customers.            This means Design Engineering now provides a “one stop shop” service for EWPs, ie 6-monthly safety certifications, AE Testing, HV testing, NDT and 5/10 yr major inspections.
